This is the Canada version of our provider guide. Choosing a print provider is the first big decision for a Canadian print on demand shop. Both Printful and Printify connect to Etsy, but they work differently, and the differences matter more when your buyers and your bank account are in Canada.
How the two models differ
Printful prints most products in its own facilities. That usually means more consistent quality from order to order, and one company to contact when something goes wrong.
Printify is a marketplace of independent print partners. You pick a provider for each product. This gives you more choice on price and location, but quality and speed depend on the partner you choose.
Questions to answer before you pick
- Where are your buyers? If most orders ship to Canada, check whether each service fulfills a given product inside Canada or ships it across the border. Cross border shipping can add time and sometimes duties for the buyer.
- What currency are you charged in? Check whether you are billed in CAD or USD. If you are billed in USD, your bank or card adds a conversion cost on every order.
- Which products do you actually sell? Compare the exact blank (brand, weight, print method), not just “t-shirt”.
- How do you handle a misprint? Read each service’s reprint and refund policy before your first sale, not after.
A simple way to test
Order one sample of your best selling design from each service, shipped to your own Canadian address. Compare print quality, packaging, delivery time and the total you paid in CAD.
TREVOR: add real photos of your Printful and Printify samples here, and the actual CAD totals and delivery days you saw.
Bottom line
If you want consistency and fewer moving parts, start with Printful. If you want to shop around on margin and are willing to test providers, Printify gives you more options. Many sellers use both for different products.
